Lucky 7s at Martinsville

"The Paper Clip" provided our most unique outcome of the fantasy NASCAR season.

Denny Hamlin won the individual race, thanks to late help from a teammate's spinout that cost Jeff Gordon the win, providing Quang his first success of the season. Meanwhile, the late shuffling resulted in the highest winning team score to date - 75, achieved by both the Redneck Tribe and Shake & Bake. By rule, we just chop the pot - in this case, $7 to both Todd and myself, while Quang gets $7 for Hamlin's win.

The outcome leaves only Joe's hard-luck Paper Chasers off the money ledger, but he'll look to get that taken care of after the Easter off week.

Next race: Subway Fresh Fit 600 at Phoenix, April 10, a standard $7/$14 event.

Johnson, Brad win again

Well, this isn't getting old, is it? Jimmie Johnson wins a NASCAR Sprint Cup race, this week at Bristol. I hope Brad's conscience can take making money off of a turd.

But in a new twist, we had a pretty darn good team race, and Foges' Smoke Bombs (led by Tony Stewart's second-place finish) edged Brad's Cheaters by 10 points and Chad's Tribe by 14.

Have a cold one, Todd ...

League newcomer Todd could have popped a cool Miller Lite on Sunday in celebration of a sweep at the Kobalt Tools 500. Instead, he probably had some hoppy, Belgian brew from his immobile brother Brad.

Miller Lite Dodge driver Kurt Busch's race win helped make Todd the third consecutive owner to sweep the individual and team titles. It was thought that by counting five drivers we might see fewer sweeps, but so far that hasn't happened.

The Smoke Bombs might have an interesting two-week break. Will Carl Edwards be disciplined by NASCAR for his spin-out of Brad Keselowski? If that happens, I'll act to award Foges whoever the driver is of the 99 car without penalty.
